This role is a fixed term position in response to increased demand within our high priority work programmes. We are surging in people and resources in response to these priorities.
Mō te tūranga mahi | About the role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Investment Manager with excellent grant and contract management skills and proven ability to work with project partners to support them deliver their important work on the ground.
The Environmental Investment programme offers a unique opportunity for the Ministry to accelerate on-the-ground action and collaborate closely with Treaty partners, central and local government, community groups, and other stakeholders. Our current focus is on closing out Jobs for Nature projects and setting up new projects under the Māori Climate Action Platform, which supports Māori-led action and outcomes in resilience, renewables, and land use, while also exploring other new environmental funding opportunities.
You would join a team responsible for managing performance of funded projects including making changes to funding deeds, promoting collaborative and effective relationships and communities of practices and reporting on results and successes of projects. As a Senior you'll also mentor Investment Managers and contribute to Ministerial briefings, correspondence, meeting advice and OIAs.

Our ideal candidate will bring:
- At least 3 years' experience in end-to-end funds/grant management process including informing fund design, assessment and application process, contracting and ongoing project management via a Fund Management System to ensure funding is directed towards meeting agreed project objectives, through to informing reporting, monitoring and evaluation
- Demonstrated judgement and business acumen when recommending or making decisions relating to the management of funding projects, including advice to Ministers
- Should have academic qualification in business management, resource management or environmental science or knowledge and/or experience in the environment sector.
Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau | Salary range
Salary range for this role is $110,501 to $134,128 pa. Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
