Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role
The Ministry's Partnerships, Investment and Enablement (PIE) group is designing and implementing a consolidated and impactful investment function. This will enable PIE to take a more active stewardship role in environmental investment and practice, supporting our outcomes of effective implementation, a well-connected system, strong system capability and trust and confidence.
Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Investments, this role provides leadership and oversight across business groups to ensure investment initiatives and funding programmes are strategically aligned, well-governed, and effectively delivered to achieve public value and organisational goals. The role is also responsible for supporting the tracking and reporting on investment outcomes, assessing value delivered, guiding performance and business improvement, and ensuring accountability.

- Proven ability to provide thought leadership for long-term investment vision and priorities, ensuring alignment with agency and government strategic goals.
- Experience supporting and maintaining rigorous governance structures to ensure effective decision-making and oversight across a portfolio of investments
- Skilled at working across business groups and agencies to support consistent, effective delivery and to embed continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in using data, evidence, and analytics to inform investment priorities, measure outcomes, and drive earlier, more effective interventions.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to design and implement frameworks for delivery, monitor progress, manage risks, and ensure benefits realisation.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills to engage with senior leaders, Ministers, and external partners, championing investment initiatives and ensuring alignment with policy intent.
- Ability to lead and embed new ways of working, driving organisational and system-level change in investment delivery.
- Demonstrated success in leading the planning, delivery, and monitoring of complex investment portfolios or programmes.
Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau | Salary range
Salary range for this role is $140,222 to $17,467 pa. Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
