Mō te tūranga mahi | About the role
The purpose of the IT Delivery Team is to provide end-to-end project management expertise for IT projects across the Ministry. Acting as the first point of contact for technology procurement advice, the team ensures project delivery is based on established frameworks and good practice
You will play a leading role in identifying, establishing, and managing successful programmes of work. This is a busy role that is not for the faint-hearted – you'll need to multitask like no other, demonstrate strong leadership, and show resilience. You will be accountable for delivering high-priority programmes from end to end, managing budgets, resources, vendors, and ensuring alignment with strategic outcomes.

We're looking for someone with:
- Significant experience and a proven track record in leading and running all aspects of an IT project or programme management office.
- Experience managing teams responsible for successful delivery of software and/or hardware implementation projects.
- Strong vendor engagement and procurement expertise, including commercial and contractual documentation.
- Experience in compliance reporting (e.g., annual reviews, OIAs, Written Parliamentary Questions).
- A minimum of 6–10 years managing successful projects and large programmes.
- Project/Programme Management qualifications (MSP, PMP, PRINCE2 preferred).
- Highly developed communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- Ability to cope under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Understanding of the machinery of government and commitment to developing cultural capability in te ao Māori.
Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau | Salary range
Salary range for this role is $166,575 to $202,236 pa. Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
