This role is a fixed term position in response to increased demand within our high priority work programmes. We are surging in people and resources in response to these priorities.
Mō te tūranga mahi | About the role
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our dynamic Projects Team.
The Projects team provides professional project management services across the Ministry by:
- Supporting the planning and management of complex projects to ensure successful delivery, including mapping and meeting core milestones and deliverables
- Supporting the building of project management capability in others e.g. Principals, Seniors and Analysts/Advisors who are expected to lead projects of varying complexity
This role will support complex initiatives in the Tūmatakōkiri business group across its Tiriti Settlements, Ministerial Engagement with Māori, Strategic risk and system performance and Litigation Support functions, via two teams - Te Piringa and Māori Strategy and performance.

Our ideal candidate will bring:
- Proven experience in establishing systems and supporting projects directly seeking to uphold Treaty settlements and other Crown-Māori obligations.
- Proven experience in planning, managing and delivery of complex projects, using a range of industry recognised project management methodologies and techniques.
- Ability to provide high value enabling services to a range of projects including the ability to identify, manage and mitigate risks.
- Ability to coach others in project management e.g. Project Leads such as Senior Advisors | Analysts.
- Demonstrated skills in getting the best out of people with highly developed negotiating, influencing and communication skills.
- Flexibility to adapt within a fast-paced environment and hold expert prioritisation and planning skills.
Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau | Salary range
Salary range for this role is $110,501 to $134,128 pa. Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
