Mō te tūranga mahi | About the role
Due to an internal promotion, we are looking for an Analyst to join the Climate Change Interdepartmental Executive Board Unit team.
This is an integral role supporting the Climate Change Interdepartmental Executive Board's work programme.
The Climate Change Interdepartmental Executive Board Unit leads and coordinates support for the Government's climate change interagency governance. It serves as the secretariat for a cross-agency board of departmental Chief Executives, who are collectively tasked with advising ministers on climate change issues and the progress of implementing climate policies.
The Board also monitors and reports on progress and performance towards New Zealand's overall climate mitigation (emissions budgets and emissions reduction plans) and adaptation (national adaptation plan) plans and goals.
The Unit provides advice related to this monitoring and reporting across agencies, and will be convening and leading the response to the Climate Change Commission's monitoring reports across emission reductions and adaptation/resilience.

Our ideal candidate will bring:
- Some experience in climate policy, reporting and monitoring, drafting of advice and papers for decision-makers.
- Knowledge of the OIA and other Ministerial processes, e.g. writing WPQs.
- Proven organisational skills with the ability to work independently, think ahead, prioritise, and meet deadlines while preserving high levels of accuracy and confidentiality.
- A can-do attitude with ability to work effectively as a team player while working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
- Proven experience and comfortability delivering quality work in a fast-paced environment.
- An agile approach, with a desire to make a difference.
- Strong relationship management and engagement skills, quickly building credibility and trust with diverse stakeholder groups.
A desire to work across complex projects and programmes and willingness to shift seamlessly across the unit as required would be beneficial.
Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau | Salary range
Salary range for this role is $80,712 to $97,721 pa. Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.

The location for this role is flexible, however, a Wellington based candidate is preferred.
