We have a fixed term vacancy for an experience Programme Coordinator to join the team until 30 June 2026.
This role sits in the Strategy, Stewardship & Performance (SSP) Group at the Ministry for the Environment. This Group uses data and evidence to help advise ministers, set the Ministry's strategy to deliver on core priorities, and inform decision-making. Our integrated planning and programme delivery function helps the Ministry to prioritise its work plan and deliver it.
The Coordination team works collaboratively with Programme and Project Managers to provide professional programme coordination services to the Ministry, ensuring the successful delivery of these projects.
This coordination position is working directly to support the Climate Change Independent Executive Board Unit. The Unit supports the Board to provide collective oversight and governance of the Government's climate priorities and provides monitoring and reporting to track progress in delivering the Government's climate actions.
Our ideal candidate will be a pro-active member of the team, enabling others and helping to ensure that everything runs smoothly so that Unit is able to deliver. You will enjoy working in a fast-paced and agile environment and have the ability to manage competing deadlines.

Our ideal candidates will bring:
- Certification in or currently studying towards CaPM or a similar project/programme qualification
- Extensive experience in providing high value coordination services to programmes and projects and supporting a management unit day to day, ideally in a central government setting.
- High level of technical skills in project and collaboration tools e.g. Planview, Mural | MS Whiteboard, CRM.
- Exceptional visual presentation skills to enable decision-makers.
- Able to operate across a business group's work programme in collaboration with other programme and project based roles.
- Cultural capability in or a willingness to incorporate te ao Māori into your everyday mahi
What is most important is that you feel motivated by the kaupapa and you enjoy working as one team.
Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau | Salary range
Salary range for this role is $69,248 to $83,720 pa. Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
