Opportunity to help shape and implement infrastructure in New Zealand's newly emerging resource management system.

Do you want to make a difference in how New Zealand plans and develops its infrastructure?
The Infrastructure Policy team, within MfE's Environmental Management and Adaption group, has a vacancy for a full-time policy advisor.
We work on policy relating to all types of infrastructure and how it can be planned and developed within New Zealand's resource management system. We work collaboratively across the Ministry for the Environment, but also with other agencies such as the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment (MBIE) and with Local Government. We also regularly liaise with the infrastructure sector.
This position requires a motivated policy advisor to support the development of infrastructure policy. A particular focus is to provide expertise into the replacement of the Resource Management Act and for the development of national direction for such infrastructure areas as electricity generation and transmission, offshore wind generation, telecommunications and other forms of infrastructure.
The role offers the opportunity to work as part of a high performing, focused policy team, working with senior analysts, to develop, deliver and implement infrastructure policy.

- An understanding of the role infrastructure plays to support growth and development.
- A good working knowledge of the RMA.
- Policy development skills and experience.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Able to connect with partners and stakeholders and build relationships.
- Ability to work across a number of work streams and to manage competing priorities.
- Comfort in working with ambiguity and adaptability to changing priorities and new and emerging issues.
- The ability to work well in, and contribute positively to, the team.
Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau | Salary range
Salary range for this role is $79,598 to $96,372 pa. Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
