Fixed Term/Secondment opportunity to end of November 2025
Mō te tūranga mahi | About the role
We are looking for an experienced Advisor to join our Adaptation Policy team to help us deliver advice on the investment in risk reduction and cost-sharing pillars of the National Adaptation Framework.
You will be joining a collaborative, warm, high-performing team who has a lot of fun.
This is an opportunity for you to play a key role to influence positive change to guide how Aotearoa New Zealand will build resilience to a changing climate.
This role will have a focus on:
- development of policy and evidence base to support decisions on the cost-sharing pillar (initially)
- leading the development of regulations and other supporting elements of the legislation once it has passed
- coordinating across government and providing advice on the alignment of wider emergency management, recovery, infrastructure resilience and funding and financing initiatives across government.

Our ideal candidate will bring:
- 2-3 years' experience in policy development and analysis within central government
- strong written and oral communication skills
- excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to foster good stakeholder relationships
- proven organisational skills with the ability to work independently, think ahead, prioritise, and meet deadlines while preserving high levels of accuracy and confidentiality
- a can-do attitude with ability to work effectively as a team player while working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
- knowledge of, and commitment to, developing your cultural capability and capacity in Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te ao Māori perspectives
- a tertiary qualification, certification or experience in finance or economics is desirable.
Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau | Salary range
Salary range for this role is $79,598 to $96,372 pa. Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
