Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role
This team is responsible for ETS regulatory policy work to support the efficient and effective operation of the NZ ETS, including ensuring that legislative requirements are met. This includes:
- Providing advice on annual and other regular regulatory requirements to update the ETS including in relation to:
- unit limits and price control settings
- regulations on the price of carbon, electricity allocation factors
- emissions factor information for individual sectors
- other operational improvements
- Provide advice on ETS industrial allocation policy
- International engagement on ETS policy and operations
- Supporting ministers with stakeholder engagement with ETS participants/key stakeholders
The key purpose of these roles is to support the development of analysis and advice on a range of ETS-related regulatory settings and policy issues.

- Demonstrated experience managing the implementation of complex policy projects and programmes, managing risks and business analysis.
- Skills in qualitative/quantitative analysis and development of policy advice
- Ability to set priorities and to achieve deadlines and project outputs.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal
Other considerations:
- Background in the ETS, markets, economics and/or finance would be beneficial
Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau | Salary range
Salary range for this role is $79,598 to $96,372 pa. Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
