Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role:
The Net Zero / Climate Systems team ensures that policy and legislative settings enable New Zealand and New Zealanders to achieve our climate outcomes. This includes work such as:
- Setting out the overall systems narrative and story for climate mitigation,
- Ensuring the Climate Change Response Act, and other relevant legislation, remains fit for purpose,
- Providing advice to the Government on Emissions Budget 4, the 2050 target and if aviation and shipping should be included in the target,
- providing advice on the second emissions reduction plan.
The Purpose of the role is to deliver high-quality, accurate research and analytical assessment and products to support the delivery of the Ministry's and Government's objectives and help lead on the development and delivery of policy within a complex and challenging policy space, often on new, contentious, sensitive or complex areas or issues where the scope is often unclear.

Demonstrated experience of developing end to end complex policy within the public sector
Substantial experience using a range of analytical frameworks, including developing new frameworks.
Demonstrated understanding of the Machinery of Government.
Developing understanding of treaty rights and interests as they relate to climate mitigation policy
Developing ability to coach others to deliver high quality policy advice
Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau | Salary range
Salary range for this role is $108,976 to $132,277 pa. Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
